The conventional lightning rod lightning strike process consists of the following steps: (1) preliminary discharge (from the thundercloud), (2) upward discharge (from the lightning rod), (3) formation of the discharge path, and (4) a large current flows. The PDCE lightning rod is designed to avoid becoming a target for lightning and consequently prevent strikes by eliminating step (2) upward discharge (from the lightning rod). ◆ Where should it be used?
